Support Victims of Human Trafficking

“After drug dealing, trafficking of humans is tied with arms dealing as the second largest criminal industry in the world, and is the fasted growing.” – Dept. of Health and Human Services
The Immigration Rights Clinic at Coastal Law provides the only pro bono representation of immigrant human trafficking victims in Northeast Florida. “Sarah”, pictured here, was referred to the clinic in Fall 2012 by the National Human Trafficking Resource Center. Her journey to the United States is a story of deception, abuse and tragedy. “Sarah” came to the clinic in immediate need of representation regarding the important legal issues she faced - but did not understand.

In “Sarah’s” case, as in most others, student clinicians spend long hours interviewing and preparing the necessary court documents to change or maintain the client’s current citizenship status. In addition to legal work, students routinely transport clients to court in Orlando, provide meals and clothing, and many times pay for finger printing, translation and other services. These costs are not reimbursed.

The Legal Clinics at Coastal Law operate solely on donated funds and countless student and Certified Legal Intern hours. The Foundation’s goal for the 2013-2014 Annual Fund is to provide support for these clinical programs that fill such a vital need in our community while also preparing students for a lifelong commitment to public service.

Florida Coastal School of Law Foundation exists to provide direct support to Florida Coastal School of Law students.  We invite all Coastal alumni to make a gift of ANY size to support student scholarships by clicking the ‘Donate’ button at the top of the page.
As you know, paying private law school tuition is a great financial commitment.  Even though Florida Coastal School of Law ranks below the national average for private law school tuition, our students still need your help to achieve their dreams.  By reducing their debt, you help ensure their success after graduation.   And as leaders in the legal, business, and public arenas, alumni are the school's most valuable ambassadors.   By providing financial support, you enrich the lives of our students immeasurably.

Every gift, whether large or small, is truly appreciated. For your thoughtful consideration, Florida Coastal School of Law offers a sincere Thank You for your support.

Florida Coastal School of Law Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The Florida Coastal School of Law Foundation is not a part of Florida Coastal School of Law.  Your contribution is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
